On September 12th, the Brown Eyed Girls moved hearts with their KBS Chuseok special, ‘The Brown Eyed Girls’ Pit-a-Pat‘, which saw them helping six Chinese children who were ill and impoverished.
The Chuseok special focused on bringing these six Chinese children with heart problems to Korea, as they couldn’t get the necessary surgeries needed back home.  The show sponsored their surgeries for free through help from Chinese and Korean viewers, and brought on the Brown Eyed Girls to help with their efforts.
Viewers were surprised to see the Brown Eyed Girls without any of their usual glitz and glamor. Each of the members opened up their hearts and showed concern over the children through tears and thoughtful actions. After hearing that their surgeries had gone well, the girls jumped with joy, taking the issue personally to heart.
One 12-year-old, who was forced to watch her friends from the sidelines during recess because of her heart condition, wrote a letter to the girls stating, “I’m so grateful for the unnis.  I’ll be thinking of them every moment my heart beats.”
When it was finally time for the children to return back home, the girls were unable to hide their tears.
Viewers praised the show for creating a “different type of Hallyu” that didn’t just focus on the singing and dancing.  Some commented, “It was so moving,” “I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing,” and “Their hearts are so kind.”
